Demonstrably meeting ABRO
Organisations working on a contract for the Dutch government or the police that touches on national security may fall under the Algemene Beveiligingseisen Rijksoverheidsopdrachten (ABRO), the Dutch government security requirements. GreyOps delivers the examinations and reports that make you demonstrably ready for the electronic security survey (EVO) carried out in coordination with the NBIV.
What ABRO asks of you
- Physical security and zoning of compartments where a protected interest is processed or stored. That need not always be classified information.
- An electronic security survey (EVO) and sound attenuation measurement before a compartment is taken into use and whenever resources are added or changed, in coordination with the NBIV. That requirement applies at levels TBB 2 and TBB 1.
- Organisational assurance: procedures, personnel reliability and awareness.
- Demonstrability towards the contracting authority and the NBIV, through the security plan and the annual self-inspection among other things.
Preparation
Ahead of the official EVO
The formal electronic security survey takes place in coordination with the NBIV: before a compartment is taken into use, and again whenever assets are added or changed. A GreyOps sweep comes first. You then know what is present in the room before the competent authority measures it, rather than after.
A picture of the environment
A substantiated picture of what is present in the room: planted equipment, unwanted signals and findings on cabling, peripherals and fittings. Radiation from outside is charted as well, so that signals from adjacent rooms and buildings can be traced and explained. With detection criteria established in advance and transparent reporting of scope, findings and residual risks.
An accelerator towards accreditation
Findings that would otherwise surface during the formal EVO are on the table earlier, already resolved or explained. That saves a re-inspection and keeps the accreditation process from being delayed by something that could have been addressed in advance.
Staying clean after the sweep
A sweep is a snapshot. With the report we therefore propose concrete measures to keep the room clean: access control, arrangements for equipment brought into the room, fittings and management, and when reassessment is due.
