About GreyOps

Science and practice, in service of confidentiality

Founded by a security scientist with a PhD in computer security from Delft University of Technology and years of professional experience in national security. GreyOps advises organisations for which confidentiality is not a luxury but a condition of existence.

What we stand for

  • Independent: no hardware sales, no vendor interest, no commissions.
  • Scientifically grounded: methodically sound and based on the latest insights.
  • Experienced in high-security environments in government, NATO contractors (Afghanistan) and the Bay Area (US).

Kris Oosthoek

GreyOps was founded by Dr Kris Oosthoek, who received a PhD in computer security from Delft University of Technology in 2022. His research centres on the modus operandi of advanced (state) actors.

That scientific background carries through into the work of GreyOps: methodical, empirical, verifiable and free of vendor interest.

Approach

Honest about what is needed, and about what is not

Threat before checklist

We test measures against what an advanced adversary can actually do, not against a checklist.

Proportionate advice

Sometimes more is needed than expected, often less than a vendor would propose. We say both.

OPSEC

Client data is safe with us under a strong security regime. Reports are prepared in a highly secured, offline environment.

Quality assurance

Continuous development of the replicable GreyOps methodology, anonymised peer review of reporting, version control and an annual calibration and training cycle.
